Deus Ex Looks AMAZING

Ok, Deus Ex is blowing my freakin’ mind. I have, in fact, pre-ordered it, and I haven’t pre-ordered anything since Metal Gear Solid 3! Deus Ex has everything I want in a game; multiple solutions to problems, a convoluted conspiracy story, mechs, cyborgs, scifi noir, retracting arm blades, personal cloaking devices, guns with awesome reload animations, and sunglasses at night! So I painting a little portrait of protagonist Adam Jensen, and his badass sunglasses.

Love at First Sight?

I don’t usually care much for Zelda in the Legend of Zelda series. She often comes off as cold and distant, except for, perhaps, in Wind Waker. But the Skyward Sword Zelda seems like my kinda girl! She’s playful, she flirts with Link, she’s a daredevil, and she’s got that girl-next-door quality that I find irresistibly appealing. So I did some fanart because I was feeling inspired.

The E3 List of Awesome!

Yes, I am totally geeking out over E3, as, I assume, are we all. I feel the need to put in list form the stuff I’m most excited about (in no particular order)! Unfortunately, the chances that I’ll ever find the time to play even half of the games on this list is unlikely, but I can dream…

Ace Combat: Assault Horizon – Yes! MORE ACE COMBAT! And the dogfights look adrenaline pumping intense!

Star Wars: The Old Republic – Not that I need E3 to get me excited about SWTOR, I’ve been doing that just fine since it was announced back in, what, 2008? Heck, I’ve been reading the Old Republic novels and comics, brushing up on my TOR lore (Satele Shan and Darth Malgus FTW), and creating characters I intend to RP. The only down side is I don’t have a computer that can run this game currently… Hopefully that’ll change by the time the release date rolls around. Oh, and any one of those CG trailers is better than all three prequel films combined.

Zelda: Skyward Sword – I was kind of ‘meh’ on this, until I saw the story trailer and boss fight demos. Now I’m thinking this is going to be my favorite Zelda of all time. Plenty of one-on-one sword fighting, awesome art direction, lots of dizzying heights! The air temple was my favorite dungeon in Twilight princess, so gimme more of that, please.

Final Fantasy 13-2 – Yeah, 13 was a lame final fantasy, but it sure was flashy and it had an awesome soundtrack! I enjoyed it, despite the bad voice acting and poorly narrated story. 13-2 looks just as slick, and I wouldn’t mind jumping back into that FF world.

Soul Calibur 5 – I need a roster list now!!! Dunno if I care for the Street Fight 4 super moves that they seem to have included, but I do like how the pace of the combat has been sped up. Hopefully if they include character creation, they won’t have all their clothes fall off in combat. Fighting in your skivvies in SC4 was just dumb.

Bioshock Infinite – I doubt I’ll ever get around to playing it, but the trailers make this game look incredibly immersive. And that girl in the indigo (not purple) dress is so cute. And destructive.

Rayman – I played the original 2D Rayman to death, but never got into the 3D ones. Now Rayman’s back to 2D and is looking quite slick.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution – It’s about time someone made a really good Ghost in the Shell game! Or rather, Deus Ex: HR certainly has that GitS vibe. Not to mention I played through the original Deus Ex on PC multiple times back in my highschool days, and loved the heck out of it.

Mass Effect 3 – I just started playing Mass Effect 1 and it has already become an obsession. It’s possible I’ll have worked my way through ME1 and 2 multiple times before 3 comes out. I’m as excited as a Quarian on his pilgrimage!

Metal Gear Solid HD Collection – Not that I haven’t played through MGS2 and 3 a hundred times already, but I’ll finally get the chance to tackle Peace Walker, which looks like a rather pivotal tale in Metal Gear lore.

Zone of the Enders HD Collection – I do love the giant robots! But I never got around to playing any of the ZOE games. Always wanted to, though. Now’s my chance!

Armored Core 5 – Did I mention I love giant robots?

Hawken – *Cough* giant robots *cough*

I know I could make this list twice as long, because the number of great games shown at E3 so far is blowing my mind! But I think this list is currently what I’m most interested in. Anyone want to share their own list of awesome games to get excited about?

Got Sake?

Ken Portrait

I was going to use the Got Milk? font, but I got lazy. Feels like I haven’t drawn Ken in forever!

F**kin’ with Fett

I was going through the photos I took at Emerald City Comiccon (which have been sitting on my camera since March), and I found this one where I deftly bunny-eared the most feared bounty hunter in the galaxy. I know, I’m a risk taking badass.

Who wants Cho figurine?

So I’ve been looking at Patch Together, and I’m thinking I want a piece of that action. If I start submitting designs for NNFB characters, would anyone show interest? I’ve got this pretty cool idea for a Cho figure…

More random sketching, I guess!

I’m not really trying to update this blog every day… or maybe I am? Either way, I drew this sketch of Ina, then I added funky colors. Maybe I dunno if I should mess with colors this way, for it is kind of ugly. The drawing’s nice, though, right?

Fresh Prince Remix!

Now this is the story all about how
I flipped my life right upside down
And if I could have a minute of your time to borrow
I’ll tell you how I became estranged from the House of Wataro

In power and money born and raised
In the dojo is where I spent most of my days
Genchu had me trainin’, gainin’ some skills
While my dad went out to reap a lot of plunder and kills
Then he exiled Genchu for changing his side
And I learned of a plot for a groom and a bride
While the daimyo sent out all the Demons of Sorrow
I ran away from home and Hirotomo Wataro

I had lots of adventures among towns and trees
Makin’ new friends and lots of enemies
And some crazy redhead chick from the world of tomorrow
Helped me remain the living ex-prince of Wataro

I rolled into the village about seven or eight
And I yelled to a soldier, “Yo, homes, hold the gate”
Ran into the three remaining Demons of Sorrow
It’s the price of being the ex-prince of Wataro

-Props to KungfuKlobber for the lyrical rewrite of Will Smith’s crowning musical achievement. I consider this a Super S Disqus comment. See people? This is now the level I expect all NNFB fans to aspire to when commenting on new pages. It’s okay, though. I grade on a curve.

NEW UPDATE SCHEDULE, HOORAH!

Well, more like old update schedule! As of today, NNFB is going back to once a week updates. I’ve been doing a page a week for over a month now, and found it sustainable. Expect a new page next Monday and every Monday!

On an unrelated note, we put up the old ten page short comic I did a number of years back, Passing. You can find it under Extras/Side Comics/Passing in the navigation bar. It’s about an unorthodox Shinto priest who passes on the souls of the dead. I also revisited him in a recent sketch, and gave him a female companion, why not! Hopefully I’ll get a chance to ink and color them in the not too distant future. It’d be cool to do another short comic with him, if I ever find the time.

CTB is back!

So this is pretty rad. Reader Justin W took the time to ink and color my Cardboard Tube Samurai sketch and turn it into a wallpaper for all to love and experience! He also recently started his webcomic Spacejocks, so check it out! What with the oversized weaponry and alien dinosaurs, it’s certainly worth a look.
