    Who's got marshmallows?
  • yomi
Well... there is wood and there is paper... and the later is easier to ignite...
  • Myhtling
    Well, I dunno.
In the times of rome here in europe most fortifications were wood too, and that wouldn't make much sense if it were THAT easy to burn them down.
  • darkauras
Actually...I think it had more to do with there not being anything else to build with...Until a certain level of technology was achieved, large fortifications of stone were nearly impossible to build, and even then they are time consuming and costly to build. So it comes down to flammable wood or...nothing.

and, truth to tell, they really are not that easy to 'burn down'. Especially when you think about the size of the individual trees in that wall...

How long does it take your average fireplace/wood stove to burn a 6-inch log to the point where it's damaged enough to break? And that's a controlled situation where the environment is designed to retain heat. If you go look at the site of a forrest fire, you'll see that very very few of the trees are actually consumed. Instead, the fire kills them, and leaves them to rot away.

In this case, fire would be used to augment their army, keeping defenders away from the wall while allowing the besiegers to focus on cutting through.

Not sure it will work with Ken and the gang around, though...

    They are caring wooden shields
  • lurchgs
    Fah! WRONG!

    Those are giant s'mores!
  • metaldude
My bet is on the good guys pushing the burning wall back onto the army.
  • Random Fan
Sending a lone unshielded soldier into a well lit area within easy range of arrows... Who's betting that he gets shot and sets himself and the others behind him on fire???
  • Tintzone
    Campfire.
    I like that dude.
  • Sage
Well, fire worked for you earlier, Ina.
  • Neth
That's the trouble with medieval Japanese architecture: highly flammable.
  • merc
